I’m excited to announce that I have completed block I, of my degree plan, to become an EC-6 teacher in Texas!

I worked VERY hard this semester and I’ve made straight A’s again!

I was a bit emotional tonight after I walked out after my last final and some friends, who also are in block I,  said, “YEA WE DID IT GIRLS!!! BLOCK ONE IS OVER! WE DID IT!”  It was amazing because we have all worked so hard.  It was a very overwhelming semester that got easier and easier as we became accustomed to the hustle and bustle of it all.

The light at the end of this LONG tunnel is almost over for me.  I knew one day I would graduate college, but the end seemed so far away.  It has taken me quite a while to get my degree because I did it the hard way, I got married and had children while attending college.

God knew I wanted to be a stay at home mom while my kids were babies, toddlers and pre-school aged, so really this has all worked out the way it was supposed to!

Next SPRING, I will have my college diploma!  What is even more exciting than that is I will be certified before I even graduate!  On June 27th, I will be taking one of my exams to be a certified teacher in Texas.  It will be a difficult test. I am going to start studying for it come Monday!  I have taken 2 practice tests and passed them both,  but I really want to have a better score.

I hope to be updating more since school is out!  I will be updating on the kids and what I plan to do this summer!

I did get a pretty cool little Spring Break though!  I went to Temple to visit some of my very close friends and spent the night!  My kids came with me.  A friend that I have known for about 3 years from our mommy forum flew to Dallas and met us in Temple for lunch.  Another girl on our forum also met us for lunch whom I hadn’t met.  It was nice to meet both of them!!! The kids definitely outnumbered us!!!

Spring Break we also headed to Galveston.  If you remember, back in September 2009, we had a major Hurricane hit our area.  Hurrican IKE!!!  Galveston is still booming and thriving! Thank GOD!  The beaches are cleaned up, and they are actually restoring them and adding more sand.

We had a blast when we went during Spring Break. The kids loved it.  The water was a little chilly but they didn’t care.  They were having too much fun.  I was really surprised that the beaches were PACKED with Spring Breakers too!

I did not grow up when there was inequality in our nation.  I was born in the late 70′s, really grew up in the 80′s and 90′s, and in the schools and in society I saw many different races holding higher paid jobs.  I never really thought that only white people could be president to tell you the truth!  I knew a day would come when we would have a different nationality in the white house.

And so I leave today with this clip!  I hold high respect for Dr. Martin Luther King.  He was a very intellectual man.  If you ever have time read his letter he wrote while he was in jail in Birmingham it is worth reading.  It is long, but it is so well thought out and very well written.

This was my niece’s birthday.  Not a very good picture…but I couldn’t cheat! LOL!

1. If I could be a fly on the wall I would watch my kids when they thought I wasn’t looking.

2. Jealousy is good if not taken to extreme.

3. When I see a shooting star my wish would be that there will be peace someday.

4. I’d rather be beaching (??? huh?) than going to school any day!

5. Certain songs when I hear them make me wanna cry.

6. If time were in a bottle I’d like it stop right here at this moment in time.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to relaxing, tomorrow my plans include going to our friend’s 30 birthday and Sunday, I want to go to the park!

Say what???

I can’t believe I’m about to type this but it is the year 2009!!!! I just can’t believe how time has flown.  And I know we all say that saying but wow!  I still remember 10 years ago in 1998 I graduated HighSchool and now its 2009???  Weird!  I honeslty can’t believe how the years have flown like the wind but in all those years I have had some pretty happy times! I got married, I have two wonderful children and there’s light at the end of my schooling tunnel!

Yes…3 semesters left of school and I’m DONE!! Well not completely if you want to add in my masters program but we won’t go there yet.  Let’s get the first one first!

So I got to thinking that this year I really want to have some New Years Resolutions.  I in the past I have made attempted some resolutions but failed miserably.  I feel that this is the year that I need to shape up…literally…and start making some REAL goals that I can keep.

Soooo…Number One on the list:

1.  Start some kind of work-out program.  I have worked out in the past…I even had a membership to a gym but I NEVER and I mean NEVER can stick to it.  I fail everytime.  So this year I am going to make a reasonable work-out plan that I can stick to.  I thought I’d start with the dusty pilates videos and then up it once those have their time.

2. Work on the NAIL BITING!  I actually don’t bit my nails as much as I pick at them.   I want pretty hands and I am going to work on getting somewhere to that!

3. Manage my time better!  This semester is going to be a busy one.  I am going to be going to school probably 4 times a week!  I will need to organize my days better and get a system down!  I am going to use the new planner I got to do just that.

4. Patience!  I need Patience!  This Holiday Season has really allowed me to relax and not get all excited about the overwhelming mess on my floor from all the toys!  I am going to pray more…read more and have a better relationship with God as well.

5. Time with hubby!  With having kids…we have really lacked in the dating and spending time department.  I want to have monthly dates with my man!  We get caught up with the hustle and bustle of life and our relationship always gets put to the back burner! I want to change that! We will be better partners and parents if we are happy together and get to spend that quality time together!

Of course my list can go on and on but I am going to leave it to those 5 resolutions so my brain doesn’t get overwhelmed with so many changes!   Do you have resolutions?  I always wonderd if people really stick with them or just make them for the month of January and then forget.  I hope to work hard on mine so that neither of those happen with muah!

The kids have been playing with their favorite toys…and life is good!
